Unchained $5,000 Reward for you or your church

Today I am offering a $5,000 reward for a missing Bible text, oh yes I know it sounds quite extraordinary – but it’s true!  Because I want some real answers. You see I am a little confused, I’m confused with the day of Christian worship, the day that most churches are open for business – so to speak, and that being Sunday, because it just doesn’t make any sense to me!

So that’s why I want to get to the bottom of this,  and I am offering a $5,000 reward for the missing bible text  – which clearly authorizes the change of the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.  Could you do with $5,000?  I am sure you could, what about your church could they use $5,000? Think of the things you could do with $5,000!

But you say wait a minute Rod, we go to church on Sunday because its in the Bible.  Really? Then show me, and the $5,000 is yours! Ok then, well we go to church on Sunday because I have been told by my Priest or my Pastor that it’s the right day!   Is it?  Then get them to show me and the $5,000 is theirs! You see, I am sure you have been taught, as I was taught that Sunday was the seventh day of the week.  But no its not. And now I am going to show you.  (SLOWLY) See, Saturday is the seventh day of the week.

Calendar

The week starts with Sunday, Sunday is the first day of the week and Saturday is the seventh day of the week, as you will discover if you look at most wall calendars. Check out your iPhone calendar, can you see what day is the  last day or the seventh-day of the week?  Yes Saturday. Let’s have a closer look, ok so your iPhone shows Saturday as the Seventh day of the week.

But let’s go to a source that has real authority, and that is the Webster’s dictionary and  begin by looking up the word Saturday.  Saturday is the seventh-day of the week!  There you have it,  let’s look up the word  Sunday.  Ok so Sunday is the first day of the week,  Now you’re going to say to me, so what? What difference does it make?

Well it actually makes all the difference in the world . . .  if you’re a Christian and you want to please God, (PAUSE)  then you would want to obey Him,  particular (SLOWLY) if you are truly grateful to Jesus for what He achieved for you on the cross 2,000 years ago.    Let me show you

In Exodus chapter 20 we have the Ten Commandments, and the fourth commandment is the one which  is overlooked, no one has any problem agreeing WITH, or embracing the other nine commandments, but it is just the fourth commandment, that causes those in holy orders, those of the clergy to resist, but why?  Let’s read it

Exodus 20:8-11

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour,  and do all thy work But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day,  and hallowed it.

It says Remember the Sabbath to do keep it holy.  Funny that isn’t it?  The first word of this commandment is the word ‘Remember,’ because God knew that it would be forgotten, Christians would forget it, or choose to ignore it all together,  The fourth commandment concludes by saying wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.  (SLOWLY), the word hallow  just means to make holy, it is God’s HOLY day.

Then why does everyone go to church on Sunday?  If Saturday is the Sabbath, and it is God’s Holy day! Well, not every Christian goes to church on Sunday, and neither did Jesus, as we learn in Luke 4:16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

What’s a synagogue, yes it is a Jewish church, and what does the word custom mean? Well it just means it’s a habit, (SLOWLY) it is something a person does regularly and Jesus went to church regularly on the Sabbath, so if He is every Christian’s example in all things . . .  then what should Christians do?  Yes go to church on the day that Jesus did.

You may by wondering, what about Jesus’ disciples after the crucifixion and resurrection what day did they go to church?  Well let’s find out by going to the book of Acts, and this is about 15 years after Jesus death and resurrection.   And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next  sabbath.   Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

Who were Paul and Barnabas?  Yes Paul was an apostle and Barnabas was a disciple, both were followers of Jesus Christ. and what day were they going to church?   On the Sabbath day, let’s keep reading then On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

Sabbath (Saturday) keeping in the New Testament

When did almost the whole city come to together to hear the Word of God?  Yes the Sabbath, it is the same day we call Saturday today, it is the day Christians are required by God to keep Holy and reverence.  Jesus did not predict any change to the day of worship.  But the day has been changed and most people don’t even know it. This is really a case of mistaken identity, people think they are worshipping on God’s day and they are not.

They think that Sunday is the Lord ’s Day guess what?  It’s not.  Let’s look at the words of Jesus in Mark 2:28, 29.

And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Who is the Son of Man?  Yes Jesus.  Therefore, if Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, what day is the Lord’s day? (PAUSE) Yes Sabbath, the day we call Saturday today – is the Biblical Lord’s Day.

Nevertheless, I am happy to be proved wrong, so please find me a verse in the Bible, (SLOWLY)  you or your pastor,  that clearly authorizes the change of the day of worship and the $5,000 is yours or theirs.

But  you don’t have to be confused about what people teach or say, if you know what the Bible says, and to that end I want to direct you to a presentation of mine that you can track down on You tube entitled “What day did early Christians worship on,” in that presentation I discuss the historical change of the day of worship,  plus I have a gift for you today, a  FREE  series of Bible reading guides called the Orchard Faith of Jesus studies, and these guides will give you a clear understanding of the key teachings found within God’s Word.
